One of the things that strikes me about the seemingly endless amount of ‘free’ lessons on the internet is the lack of people encouraging you to play some songs. As many of you know I owe a great debt to my mentor Branford Marsalis, ‘our concept is to play jazz, learn 100 years of it and just play – it’s always about good tunes.’
Each assignment on this course asks you to record a video of you playing each song at the end. If you can apply some of the theoretical concepts then great, but want I want you to do is learn the song.
